mr. torn + olympia

This series was created between 2005 - 2006. Shot on film with your basic Pentax K-1000 SLR.

Although some of these images are in color, at the time, I preferred Ilford Delta 3200. I really liked a soft, grainy image with a razor thin focal point. I had an old lens my father gave me that allowed me to shoot at F1.4. I was always looking for ways to push or pull the film so that I could get that soft, grainy, dreamlike quality.

Most of my peers wanted things to be razor sharp, with lots of nice color, in medium or large format.

I wanted my images messy, distorted, and to highlight the medium as much as possible as an alternative vector of aesthetic production.

This collection of images became an expressionistic representation of how I felt at the time, and, sometimes still do.
